Development Ī smaller two-seater sports roadster was developed at the behest of Henry Ford II in 1953 called the Vega. Thunderbird production ended in 1997, then briefly resumed as a two-passenger, marketed from 2002 to 2005.įrom its introduction in 1955 to its final phaseout in 2005, Ford produced over 4.4 million Thunderbirds. Sales were good until the 1990s when large two-door coupes became unpopular. Succeeding generations became larger until the line was downsized in 1977, again in 1980, and once again in 1983. For 1958, the Thunderbird was redesigned with a second row of seats. Ford positioned the Thunderbird as an upscale model and it is credited in developing a new market segment, the personal luxury car. Unlike the Chevrolet Corvette, it was not marketed as a sports car. The Thunderbird entered production for the 1955 model year as a sporty two-seat convertible. Introduced as a two-seat convertible, the Thunderbird was offered variously as a four-seat hardtop coupe, four-seat convertible, five-seat convertible and hardtop, four-door pillared hardtop sedan, six-passenger hardtop coupe, and five-passenger pillared coupe, with the final generation designed again as a two-seat convertible.įord targeted the two-seat Thunderbird as an upscale model, but the 1958 model year design introduced a rear seat and arguably marked the expansion of a market segment eventually known as personal luxury cars, positioned to emphasize comfort and convenience over handling and high-speed performance. Once power to the module is removed, the module will reset and resume normal operating functions.

You may now release the brake pedal, as the running light switch is providing power to the module.

Alternatively, to keep the module in show off mode, while still holding the brake pedal, you can turn on the running light switch.

Show off mode is now enabled, ***while you are depressing the brake pedal.***.

While holding the brake pedal, toggle the running light switch (On – Off).

Turn off all lighting, so no power is being transmitted to the tail lights.

Carefully re-install the tail lights and tuck the wiring in a save location, where it will not be damaged.

Install the desired bulbs into the new pigtails that are provided with the sequential harness.

The adapters will be labeled (Passenger side turn signal pigtail, Drivers side turn signal pigtail, Drivers side brake pigtail). Install the provided 11 style adapters into the correct factory pigtails.Remove the 8 bulbs that are used for running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.Replace the original signal light relay with an electronic style (LED Compatible).Locate and remove the existing signal light relay (engage the turn signal (Not Hazard Lights) and follow the ticking sound).As it is difficult to determine which LEDs are compatible, I have designed my own compatible LEDs. (Please note that some LEDs are not compatible with this system. The factory signal light flasher will need to be upgraded to an electronic signal light flasher, to accommodate the electronics in the module (I sell an adjustable, electronic signal light flasher).Brake lights sequence one time and then remain illuminated, until the brake pedal is released.The factory turn signals are decommissioned and the amber lens area can be tinted black, using your preferred method, if you wish.This system converts your brake/running light bulbs to sequential turn signals, sequential brakes, running lights.This system fits (1985-1992 Firebird Formula) NOTE** Please ensure you select the version that fits your vehicle, tail light style, and tail light harness (See compatibility image below)
